Storage Instructions

All products from Apex Health Performance are manufactured using a lyophilization (freeze-drying) process. This method is designed to maintain product integrity and allows vials to remain stable during shipping for approximately 3–4 months.

Once a vial is reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, it should be stored in the refrigerator to help maintain stability. Under these conditions, reconstituted material is generally considered stable for up to 30 days.

Lyophilization is a dehydration technique in which compounds are frozen and then exposed to low pressure. This causes the water in the vial to sublimate directly from solid to gas, leaving behind a stable, crystalline white structure. This powder can be kept at room temperature until reconstitution.

Upon receipt, products should be stored away from heat and light. For short-term use, refrigeration at approximately 4°C (39°F) is suitable. For long-term storage (several months to years), vials may be placed in a freezer at approximately -80°C (-112°F). Freezing is the preferred method for preserving product stability over extended periods.

Kisspeptin and neurokinin B: roles in reproductive health.

Physiological reviews 2025

Over the last two decades, research findings have considerably enhanced our understanding of the physiological regulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis and identified potential therapeutic applications. Moreover, the key role of NKB in the pathophysiology of menopausal hot flashes has led to the development of pharmacological antagonism of this pathway.

Mechanism of elevated LH/FSH ratio in lean PCOS revisited: a path analysis.

Scientific reports 2024

There was a negative association between dynorphin and kisspeptin, while NKB levels were not associated with kisspeptin. There was no direct association between kisspeptin and the LH/FSH ratio; interestingly, dynorphin was positively associated with the LH/FSH ratio in both bivariate and pathway analyses.

A melanocortin 4- and glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor multiple agonist for the treatment of diabetes and obesity.

Metabolism: clinical and experimental 2026

Current glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist-based treatments have significant side-effects associated with high rates of treatment discontinuation. Herein, we examined a polypharmacy approach combining melanocortin (MC) 4-, and GLP-1-receptor agonism in a single monomeric peptide based on α-MSH and Exendin-4 to bind and stimulate different peptide receptors in vitro, and to drive reductions in body weight and food intake in up to 7 weeks of treatment in comparison to semaglutide and tirzepatide as standard of care positive controls in diet-induced obese rats.

Melanocortin 4 receptor mutation in obesity.

World journal of experimental medicine 2024

The hypothalamic leptin-melanocortin pathway is central to the regulation of appetite and weight; leptin activates the proopiomelanocortin neurons, leading to the production of melanocortin peptides; these in turn act on melanocortin 4 receptors (MC4R) which suppress appetite and increase energy expenditure. These mutations are classified based on their impact on the receptor's life cycle: null mutations, intracellular retention, binding defects, signaling defects, and variants of unknown function.

L-Cell Expression of Melanocortin-4-Receptor Is Marginal in Most of the Small Intestine in Mice and Humans and Direct Stimulation of Small Intestinal Melanocortin-4-Receptors in Mice and Rats Does Not Affect GLP-1 Secretion.

Frontiers in endocrinology 2021

Peripheral administration of melanocortin-4 receptor (MC4R) agonists have been reported to increase GLP-1 plasma concentrations in mice and humans but it is unknown whether this effect results from a direct effect on the GLP-1 secreting L-cells in the intestine, from other effects in the intestine or from extra-intestinal effects. Furthermore, HS014-an often used MC4R antagonist, which we found to be a partial agonist-did not affect the glucose-induced GLP-1 response in the rat, P = 0.62, n = 6).

Structural insights into ligand recognition and activation of the melanocortin-4 receptor.

Cell research 2021

Melanocortin-4 receptor (MC4R) plays a central role in the regulation of energy homeostasis. Its high sequence similarity to other MC receptor family members, low agonist selectivity and the lack of structural information concerning MC4R-specific activation have hampered the development of MC4R-seletive therapeutics to treat obesity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Essential information about our research-grade peptides and quality standards.

Peptides are short chains of amino acids linked by peptide bonds, typically consisting of 2-50 amino acids. They serve as the building blocks of proteins and play crucial roles in biological processes.

Research peptides are synthesized versions of naturally occurring peptides, manufactured to precise specifications for use in scientific studies.

Key characteristics: High purity (≥98%), lyophilized form for stability, accompanied by Certificates of Analysis (COA), and manufactured under strict quality control protocols.

Peptide purity refers to the percentage of the target peptide present in a sample, measured via High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC).

Our Standard: All our research peptides maintain ≥98% purity, verified by third-party laboratory testing and documented in our Certificates of Analysis.

Higher purity is critical for research because impurities can interfere with experimental results and compromise the reproducibility of studies.

All products are supplied in lyophilized powder form within sterile, sealed vials. This format provides:

  • Maximum stability: Extended shelf life compared to liquid solutions
  • Precise measurement: Researchers can work with desired quantities
  • Contamination protection: Sealed vials prevent environmental exposure
  • Shipping durability: Powder form is more stable during transit

Lyophilized peptides:

  • Store at -4°F for long-term storage (up to 24 months)
  • Store at 36-46°F (refrigerated) for short-term storage (up to 3 months)
  • Keep away from light, moisture, and repeated temperature fluctuations

We supply research-grade peptides to:

  • Academic and university research laboratories
  • Pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies
